Take a walk through 500 million years of history to explore the myths of the loch, delve deep below the surface of its waters to uncover hidden secrets, and look into scientific research inspired by sightings of the Loch Ness Monster

Highland Wildlife Park

This is a wonderful place to visit if you are interested in wildlife. The park offers several opportunities to get close to wild animals some of which are native to Scotland! The three Snow Leopard cubs which were born in May 2022 can be seen in the wolverine enclosure.

But you must book your tickets in advance.

The availability of animals and tours can vary, so on arrival check the boards for Ranger Talks and animal feeding times.

It is worth taking a picnic as the café has a limited stock.

Dolphin Spotting

We recommend booking a boat trip with Dolphin Trips Avoch.  It is good opportunity to see the dolphins up close.

Paintball and Lazer Combat

There are activities for all ages. The Lazer Combat can be outdoor or indoors depending on the weather.

Steam Train

This is a tremendous opportunity to travel on board a steam train. You can even book a light lunch or afternoon tea as part of your journey.

The route starts at Aviemore and ends at Broomhill, where the train 'turns around' for the return journey. The views of the Cairngorms are stunning.

Jacobite Steam Train

Better known as the Hogwarts Express, this route is often described as the greatest railway journey in the world! It's an 84 mile round trip starting at Fort William and ending at Mallaig.

** update** as of March 2024 please check with the operators in advance of your holiday, as the train might be not be running.

Little Landys

Mini Landrovers!  It’s time to let the kids take the driving seat and head off on an exciting off-road adventure on a purpose-built 4×4 track designed specifically for the Little Landys and children.

Get up close to Reindeer

The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd is Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer. The roam freely in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland. The herd of about 150 animals are carefully managed, so they are tame and friendly animals.  They also have social diaries and are very busy in December as you can imagine.  You can visit the reindeer on one of the daily guided hill trips.
