Gask House is located in the peaceful and rural Strathnairn valley, just a few miles south of Inverness, close to the small communities of Farr and Inverarnie. Bounded by the Monadhliath mountains to the south, Strathnairn valley has cradled humanity for thousands of years and was a key Neolithic trade route.
The Gask Ring Cairn (one of the Clava type cairns and the largest) and standing stone is situated in one of the fields as you approach Gask House and dates back 4,000 years. It is a Scheduled Monument which is listed and protected by Historic Environment Scotland, and you are most welcome to walk up and enjoy the atmosphere directly from your cottage.
The local area has fabulous hills, lochs and rivers and yet is close to so many of the Scottish Highland's best attractions - Loch Ness, Cawdor Castle, Culloden Battlefield, the Cairngorm Mountains and many more. We are ideally located for day trips to the Northern and Western Highlands or for exploring the splendid countryside right on your doorstep.
The area is renowned for its Jacobite connections and is set in the heartland of Clan Chattan - a confederation of clans comprising Clans MacKintosh, MacGillivray, Shaw, MacBean and MacPherson. It is said that some of these clans met at the Gask standing stone before the Battle of Culloden. In a nearby wood is the sharpening stone. It is also said that some clansmen who were gathering here before the Battle of Culloden sharpened their swords on this very stone.

Another Wonderful Stay
"Gill and Chris were amazing from booking through to our goodbyes. The property is immaculate and our cottage was modern, clean, comfortable and warm! All the right touches are present from heated floors, towel dryers, and a very well equipped kitchen. Old world charm with all the comforts of modern technology. Fast internet, lots of natural light, small wood fireplace, comfortable beds, fluffy towels. Not sure I can ask for anything else. We arrived after a long journey and Gill offered to pick up a take-away for us. Each day we were greeted with a warm good morning and when we inquired we received lots of recommendations. Gill even helped book a cab for us to go in and out of town each day. Highly recommended!"

Stylish Comfort in Nature
"A very stylish, creature comfort, cosy place for the discerning traveller. Well equipped, warm in cold nights, extremely comfortable, suitable for 2 couples travelling together, or 2 adults and 2 kids.
We also enjoyed the option to have a wood heater going, to cook for ourselves, to purchase farm fresh hen and duck eggs, and benefiting from the hosts recommendations. While it is off the beaten track, it is close to Inverness, Loch Ness, and multiple other sightseeing and exploration opportunities (castles, cairns, waterfall, hiking, bike riding... ) and what beautiful views after a restful sleep. Highly recommended."

A lovely Cottage in a wonderful Location
"This cottage is beautifully equipped and wants for nothing! Well laid out and lovely and warm with under floor heating and a log fire to top up if required! Views are stunning around the property with walks aplenty to enjoy the scenery! Lastly owners Gill and Chris are very welcoming and always on hand to give advice, help or just talk! No issue is too big for them to handle! We highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in that area! A very relaxing time away from our busy schedules! Thanks again"
